About the film

In the wake of the demolition of the Chavez Ravine and subsequent building of the Dodger Stadium, young Fernando Valenzuela became a pitching phenom. ESPN’s 30 for 30 Fernando Nation chronicles the myth and the man behind the unstoppable pitch and signature look to the heavens that broke the stereotype of the All-American All-Star and created a new era of baseball that uplifted the Mexican-American community and ignited a fire across the nation.
